The romantic sequel to Alienated takes long-distance relationships to a new level as Cara and Aelyx long for each other from opposite ends of the universe...until a threat to both their worlds reunites them. Cara always knew life on planet L’eihr would be an adjustment. With Aelyx, her L’eihr boyfriend, back on Earth, working to mend the broken alliance between their two planets, Cara is left to fend for herself at a new school, surrounded by hostile alien clones. Even the weird dorm pet hates her. Things look up when Cara is appointed as human representative to a panel preparing for a human colony on L’eihr. A society melding their two cultures is a place where Cara and Aelyx could one day make a life together. But with L’eihr leaders balking at granting even the most basic freedoms, Cara begins to wonder if she could ever be happy on this planet, even with Aelyx by her side. Meanwhile, on Earth, Aelyx, finds himself thrown into a full-scale PR campaign to improve human-L’eihr relations. Humans don’t know that their very survival depends on this alliance: only Aelyx’s people have the technology to fix the deadly contamination in the global water supply that human governments are hiding. Yet despite their upper hand, the leaders of his world suddenly seem desperate to get humans on their side, and hardly bat an eye at extremists’ multiple attempts on Aelyx’s life. The Way clearly needs humans’ help . . . but with what? And what will they ask for in return?

My thoughts:

I read Alienated around the time it came out and loved it so much. I was so stoked that Melissa was going to have a free novella and also a second book. I read both and loved both. Why did I love Invaded? Read on and find out my child.

The book starts back up after the ending of Until Midnight and if you read Until Midnight, then you obviously understand what is going on. For people that haven't read Until Midnight but went straight from Alienated to Invaded you may get a little confused. That's okay because you will catch on.

One thing I really liked about the characters is this book was the Cara had gotten so much development from the beginning of Alienated to the end of Invaded. She is a lot more outspoken (not that she wasn't already) and curious. For example, when the "meteorite" dropped down Cara didn't run away from it. Instead she went to go examine it. Boom, right there. Character development.

Another thing I really liked was the action and plot that went down in this book. I thought the duo perspective was great. It was really awesome how we got read from Aelyx and not just Cara, because let's be honest, I would be pretty bored with this book if I was only reading about Cara. I want to know what is happening on earth too! The different things happening on earth and L'eihr weren't too confusing, they weren't too boring, and all the action didn't cause the book to be overwhealming. Each planet had a healthy amount of things going on and I liked that. Both Cara and Aelyx would have their problems and reading back and forth from one problem and to another problem. There was a perfect balance.
