On the inside, within the walls of a girls’ juvenile detention center, there’s Amber, locked up for so long she can’t imagine freedom. Tying these two worlds together is Orianna, who holds the key to unlocking all the girls’ darkest mysteries. We hear Amber’s story and Violet’s, and through them Orianna’s, first from one angle, then from another, until gradually we begin to get the whole picture—which is not necessarily the one that either Amber or Violet wants us to see. Nova Ren Suma tells a supernatural tale of guilt and innocence, and what happens when one is mistaken for the other.

This book seems so interesting and something I wouldn't normally read. The dark, ghostly stuff is usually not in my comfort zone when it comes to books. I would love to start getting into that stuff and The Walls Around Us seems like a great read to start doing that. The characters in the synopsis seem like very interesting people and the plot sounds very intriguing. The cover is beautiful and would also look great on my shelf.

Perhaps, for the first time, Hayley can have a normal life, put aside her own painful memories, even have a relationship with Finn, the hot guy who obviously likes her but is hiding secrets of his own. Will being back home help Andy’s PTSD, or will his terrible memories drag him to the edge of hell, and drugs push him over? The Impossible Knife of Memory is Laurie Halse Anderson at her finest: compelling, surprising, and impossible to put down.

My Thoughts 

  The beginning of the book did not grasp my attention, but when the introduced Finn, the book got very interesting. I have to say that Hailey's best friend is someone that I would definitely not want as a friend. Gracie shared all her problems with Hailey and comforted her, yet Gracie was oblivious to Hailey's problems. I liked the way that the author had included the Andy's PSTD memories in the book. Although, some parts were interesting, the book failed to grab my attention throughout the story. I thought that the ending was a bit bland and it could have had a bit more suspense/detail. The reason I bought the book was because I absolutely loved Speak,  but I was a bit disappointed with this book.
